My Birthday

My birthday came and went this year with a couple of phone calls and several texts. One of the things I received was a gift card to Target. My father called me up and said he was going to send it to me, and I replied “You don’t have to”

To be honest I wasn’t expecting anything from my parents, given the fact that my brother and sister in law had their first child earlier this month. I fully expect them to spend their hard earned cash on the new grandkid.

No big. But yesterday I received my obligatory birthday card with, surprise, a target gift card. So on my next day off (today) I went to see what they had. I ended up getting a board game, Clue. Some back to school art supplies, a wire rack (I was looking for one for a while) and Magic the Gathering 2015.

I have quite the collection and I plan on doing Friday Night Magic when I have the time and money.

Life Update

It’s been quite a while since I last blogged, it’s been busy for me. I am more settled in with my current job and now I have time for all the crafting that I’ve been doing. I completed the quilt that I started back in December and sent it to my brother and sister-in-law as a gift for their first child.

Here’s the front and back. Once I completed it, I was surprised at how it turned out. It was my first quilt and I am quite happy that it’s done. I am going to take long break before I start on another one.

I am teaching myself how to knit and crochet , because of this I’ve gotten a little obsessed with yarn. I completed two beanies that I included with the gift quilt (I didn’t take a photo of it) one beanie I made for myself and I also made a thick scarf for myself.

I love the way they turned out considering that I’m a complete beginner with the quilt and the knitted items. I am practicing with my crochet projects, and once completed (or semi completed) I will make a post like this again.  Wish me luck! 🙂

I’m Lost

I’ve been trying to find the fiction that I have been working on. I have misplaced it and it makes me sad.

I post this from the new cafe that has opened down the street.  I like it, it’s convenient. I have to say the food is good.

It’s the first time that the temperature has fallen below 50. I don’t like it.  Especially since the heater is on the fritz.

I’m looking forward to black Friday.  Not because of the shopping, because it’s the first time in weeks that we are going out as a family. We’re going to the zoo. I’m happy about it. Not about the cold, though. I don’t like being cold.

Oh well.  Until next time, I suppose.

I May Be Traveling…I hope.

Given my change in jobs, I have become more available to travel. As long as I have internet, I’m good to go! This has me thinking of becoming more active in the idea of travel. I’ve always wanted to see New York, and I’ve got a friend who said that I could stay with them. So no need to find a hotel. They also said that they would take me to the fashion district, and if it’s anything like LA, I know that I’d have a blast! (I’ve gotten into sewing and am always looking for a good deal on thread in bulk, elastic, fabrics and notions). I hope to see the sights and see the Atlantic Ocean, since I’ve only been as far west as Utah, and that’s only to see relatives a decade ago.

I’ve also been looking at youTube as far as packing suggestions go, and found something that I had no idea existed. Packing Cubes. Totally blew my mind! Seriously brilliant! With packing cubes there is no way to over pack (Like I ALWAYS tend to do) and theoretically be able to have everything on a carry on. I’m seriously considering ordering a set with my next paycheck.

I have a mighty need!

Getting Back to Writing

There are lots of thing that I have stewing in the pot that is in my brain, story wise. So much so that I'm making variations of my stories that I've already planned out. I may actually write something for National November Writing Month. Maybe. I'm thinking about it. I have this habit of writing on paper, but haven't really transfered to the digital format. There's something about having a pencil or pen in hand and clean, crisp paper in front of you. I find it easier for thoughts to flow than sitting at a computer and typing it out. Yes, typing is required to have any hope of sharing any words I just find it…tedious. There are programs that can dictate words vocally but I get too frustrated ( and a bit stupid) to use it.

I will get my act together and get my stories up and posted. I promise I will! I swear!
